Bag of Beads Reveal - Part 1

It was a long and busy day at work for me today, leaving me feeling quite tired and not too anxious to spend even more time on the computer tonight. As a result, my apologies, but this will be a quick post and the majority of the photos from the Toronto Bead Society's 2010 Bag of Beads reveal last night will have to wait.

Suffice it to say, it was a lot of fun and once again, I was totally blown away by the incredible creativity of each participant and the wide variety of finished pieces. I would say that at least half of the items were jewellery and the other half were mixed media artwork, which seems a much higher percentage than the two previous years I have seen. I am guessing it is the piece of paper that was one of the items we had to use that turned certain people's attention in that direction.


As in previous years, everyone laid their items out on the tables at the front of the room for everyone to see - as demonstrated by the photos, which were taken at the beginning of the evening before everyone had arrived - later on, we were standing 3 and 4 people deep in front of each piece, with everyone politely jostling for a closer look at each piece. We took turns describing what we had made, what we learned while making the piece, if we had any particular difficulty making the piece that we had to overcome, if it actually was overcome. It was very interesting to hear several people describe how the idea they started off with was nowhere near the result they ended up with. Isn't that true of so many things in life?
